I want you to know, it’s ok if you didn’t hit the ground running this year…
When the alarm went off at 6 am I knew I needed more time.
More time to pour into me.
A younger version of myself would have pushed through.
Would have gotten out of bed. Would have suffered through the workout. Would have beat myself up for feeling so tired as I wrote marketing content anyway.
But this year I’m committed to more ease.
More of making feeling good my top priority.
More making myself right instead of making myself wrong.
So I slept in.
I took the morning slow.
I journaled my heart out.
I did a meditation.
I treated myself to a really delicious egg sandwich.
And you know what?
I still got the workout in (in a way that felt really effing good to me!)
And am currently soaking in our hot tub, surrounded by the freshly fallen snow as I write this. ❄️
Point being: it doesn’t have to be either/or. It gets to be both. It’s both the beautiful life AND the thriving business.
THAT right there is the mindset work that I love supporting my clients in (but you don’t have to take my word for it—you can hear their stories here!)
And I’m confident the same is possible for you with the right support.
Because the truth is that success isn’t defined by what you do on the first Monday of the year but rather who you’re being—day after day, month after month.
It’s ok if you need a little extra time today to pour into you before you pour into your business.
It’s ok if you don’t start a single new habit or plan any new goals for the year this very second.
It’s all okay. Because pouring into yourself IS pouring into the business.
That’s why today I’m sharing my biggest takeaways from my best EVER year in business—and they might not be what you think.
My hope is that this gives you the permission you need to put yourself first withOUT sacrificing big results in your business (even if that feels like the furthest thing from possible right now!).
I realized it’s BOTH.
2021 was really freaking amazing for me. AND…
I still had more than my fair share of hard days, ugly crying, challenges, and times when I really just would have rather crawled into the fetal position and burned the business down.
And what I really felt to the core of my very being this year, is that it’s BOTH.
It’s basking in the sun and sipping from literal coconuts on the beach AND being overwhelmed AF about all getting the business ready to go before I flew to Mexico for a week.
It’s hiring the team members and support to grow in a way that feels good to me AND navigating the feels that come up in knowing that it could cut into my profit in the meantime.
It’s writing soul-inspired content that I can’t help but share because it’s practically pouring out of me AND having days when I simply need to get it done.
It’s freaking loving my clients (seriously, I have the best clients) and the work that I get to do to support them AND really, deeply feeling it when they’re in a difficult season of life and navigating their own challenges.
One of the biggest gifts you can give yourself is recognizing that it isn’t either/or. It’s both.
You can have an unhappy client AND still have your best month in revenue.
You can spend the day ugly crying in bed AND still have a thriving life and business.
You can repurpose content AND still feel deeply connected to it.
So my question for you today (grab your journal or save this for later!), is where are you deciding it needs to be one or the other? What would it look like if there was room for both?
It’s ok if it still feels like a work in progress
My guiding word last year was SELF-LOVE. And honestly, it manifested nothing like I thought it would…
If I’m being real, I thought it was the year I’d finally make peace with my body image (something I’ve struggled a lifetime with—even after running multiple marathons and truly learning what I’m truly capable of).
I thought it’d manifest in hitting my biggest year in business (which I did) and finally feeling like I had weathered all the storms necessary to get “there” (wherever there is anyway) so I no longer had any feelings of self-doubt or insecurities related to that (which I didn’t).
I thought it’d manifest in feeling super sure if I actually want to have kids or be a mom one day. AND if I actually wanted to weather the changes to my business and my body that would come with that. There are days I still have doubts about that, and I’m learning to be okay with that.
I can see now how I wanted these to be concrete things that I walked away with. More checkboxes I wanted to tick so that I could feel worthy of loving myself.
But that’s the thing about self-love, right?
You have to decide you’re worthy first. Because at the end of the day, the checkboxes are just that… checkboxes—rather than an internal feeling of worthiness or love. And that right there is ALLL mindset.
Here’s how it did manifest…
As cheesy as it sounds, I learned that BECAUSE I love myself, I can handle all the thoughts and feelings that come with everything I mentioned above.
I stopped waiting until I had the picture-perfect bikini bod, and started to just book the damn trip.
I stopped putting off buying the thing I wanted (hiiii hot tub and Peloton tread) and started deciding I was worthy of it now.
I stopped waiting for the financial milestone to happen to feel “good enough” and practiced feeling good enough NOW (btw I’m convinced this is why I actually DID have my best year in biz in 2021, along with a hell of a lot of the right support).
Is it some picture-perfect ending or feeling that I’ve somehow “arrived”?
HECK NO.
Is it a work in progress that I’m really damn proud of?
100%.
And ultimately, that’s what I want for you too. I want to help you step into the most whole, worthy, authentic version of yourself—that above all (or anyone) else YOU believe is worthy of love, abundance, happiness, success, and anything else your heart desires.
Because you are.
You were born whole and worthy—Future You is about returning to that
Becoming Future You has far LESS to do with becoming someone different than who you are and far MORE to do with returning to who you REALLY are.
Read that again. ☝️
Realizing this has been such an eye-opener for me.
Because when this clicked for me, it no longer felt like I’m on a journey to become someone else or someone “better”—but rather on a path of coming home to myself.
Becoming the person I really am. The whole, worthy person I came into the world as before life, society, programming, (insert thing here) told me I wasn’t.
Instead of looking outward *cough* to social media…
For validation
For the “right” way
For what I “should” be doing
It became obvious to me that I needed to start looking inward.
Who is the person at my core?
What matters most to her?
What truths does she hold?
It doesn’t mean that I don’t have big goals or a desire to make changes.
In fact just the opposite—it means I have all of those things FROM my core.
And I’ve found the desire to meet them from THAT place is actually far more powerful than chasing something you think you should be doing simply because you think you “should” be doing it.
So this is your reminder to pause, take a breath, and check in with your true self:
Are you really afraid of being salesy or is it fully owning your truth that feels uncomfortable?
Do you really not know or is it that you haven’t gotten quiet and still enough to hear the answer?
Do you actually have “nothing to say” to your audience or have you simply not given yourself a chance to find out?
You’re more powerful than you realize—Future You is about getting back to that and becoming the person you were always meant to be.
The bottom line:
Shifting my mindset and pouring into myself in this way was the foundation that made it possible for me to have my best ever year in business.
It isn’t either the thriving life OR the successful business. It gets to be both.
