My secret sauce for getting more done (and more results) in less time

I’ve been rocking it on the consistency train for quite a while now…

...I’m writing weekly blog posts because I’ve learned how to cultivate inspiration even when I’m not quite feeling it.

...I’m posting daily to Instagram because I’ve mastered the art of showing up and sharing value in a way that feels good to me.

...I’m recording weekly podcast episodes because it’s my absolute favorite way to get visible, connect with other women, and share what’s possible for you.

But I’ll be the first to tell you, it wasn’t always that way. In fact, when I look back, it’s crazy to see how far I’ve come.

I SO feel for that girl who wasn’t really sure how to step into the business she wanted. Who felt scattered and overwhelmed, unsure of the RIGHT actions to take to grow her business.

Who didn’t have a clear, consistent message that felt true to her and was making it THAT much harder to actually generate leads, let alone convert sales, and actually get PAID.

Who didn’t have her mindset in the right place and was left wrangling fear and self-doubt, wondering if she’d ever truly be able to pivot away from the design, into coaching.

Who wondered if she was crazy for stepping away from the five-figure design projects to do more of the work that lights here soul on fire.

I have all the feels as I’m writing this, because not only have I completely transformed, but this is the exact kind of transformation I see in my Future You clients, as well. I literally can FEEL and SEE what it's like to be the Future Version of myself and see it in my clients too.

As a business owner who knows the ropes and ran a successful design business for 3+ years before for starting my SECOND business in coaching, I’m absolutely incredible at getting to the root of your biggest mindset struggles so you can take more of the RIGHT actions and see more clients, income, and impact as a result.

And it ALL starts with upgrading your mindset.

Because when it comes down to it, it’s not really about a different strategy, a different social platform, or a different credential. It’s leaning into building a business that feels aligned to what you want and how you want to create it. And when you do that, you’re basically unstoppable.

So if you’ve been struggling to craft a message that resonates with your dreamiest of dream clients, it feels daunting to show up consistently in your messaging and marketing, and you’re wondering if you can actually get paid for the work you love doing, I got you, girl. Let’s do this together.

Craft a consistent message (and do the mindset work to believe in it!)

If you’re unclear about the work that you do and the result you get your ideal client, how can you possibly expect them to understand!? It sounds so simple, but I see this happening again and again in the online space. I can’t tell you how many of my free Stressed to Success coaching calls I’ve hopped on, where the person on the other end conveys that they’re just feeling really unsure about how to explain what they do.

They go on to share that they’re interested in so many different things or there are so many different levels to their work that they can’t possibly sum it up in one sentence. And girl, believe me, I’ve had that “I don’t know how to explain to the dentist what it is that I do all day” feeling, so I totally get it. But I also know that ain’t nobody buying if they don’t even know WHAT they’re buying.

The way I see it, this is SUCH great news. Because getting clear on your messaging so you can show up clearly and consistently in your marketing is my jam and it’s an absolutely incredible place to start. But it doesn’t stop there. We also do the mindset work for YOU to believe in you.

Because crafting a message that feels true to you and sticking with it, allows people to connect with you on a whole new level. Not only that, but you’ll create content that speaks to your people so much faster because you won’t constantly be waffling on your message, wondering if it’s exactly right, and changing it for the fifteen millionth time, when you could be using that time and energy to actually convert paying clients!

I was on a coaching call recently where a client shared that she felt that the photography industry was oversaturated. And you better believe we did the mindset work for her to fully grasp what it was that set her apart. Because if the thought that keeps coming up for you is that “no one needs your work in the world” or “everyone is better than you” then you’ll prove yourself exactly right. When you can anchor into what you do and what sets you apart, it’s SO MUCH easier to show up for yourself and your business and actually make sales.

Decide where you want to show up and stick to it

Creating an online business can be absolutely incredible. Seriously, I think it’s amazing that I can connect with women all over the world from the comfort of my Colorado mountain home. But with the accessibility of creating an online business, also comes a hell of a lot of options around where to show up and how—and all those options can be super overwhelming if you let them.

When things aren’t quite working in your marketing, it can be so tempting to think it’s the platform that needs fixing (and don’t get me wrong, sometimes it is—it makes no sense to show up somewhere different than where your people are!). But more often than not, it’s that you haven’t done the mindset work to STICK with the platforms that you’ve decided on. It can be so hard to keep showing up, to keep posting, to keep being consistent… when you’re hearing nothing but crickets on the other end.

But that IS the mindset work. It’s the challenge of showing up AS IF you already have the result you want and sticking with it anyway. So I always tell my Future You clients to find two platforms that feel really good to them (whether that be Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, WHATEVER) and make that the “hub” of their content. Establish the habit there first. Show up consistently there first. THEN once you’ve mastered that, we can look at how to repurpose that same content elsewhere. But doing the mindset work to not constantly be flip-flopping platforms, builds a relationship with your audience and will save you so much time and effort, plus get you the most results in the long run.

Batch like tasks together and save yourself sooooo much time

I used to seriously stress over what to post to Instagram. When I think back to the amount of brain space it took to take a photo, edit a photo, write a caption, overanalyze said caption, and actually hit post… Well, I shudder to think what I could have been doing with all of that time. Which brings me to my next point. Not only is it important to have a marketing strategy that works for you, but you’ll save yourself SO MUCH time and effort by batching like tasks together.

Seriously, everything (like literally EVERYTHING!) shifted for me when I was able to shift my mindset and I wasn’t trying to come up with content on a daily basis. Instead, I started batching my content in a way that feels good to me. Batching just means grouping like tasks together to accomplish all at once, instead of touching it multiple times. For me, that means writing a long-form weekly blog post which then gets repurposed for Facebook and Instagram. It allows me to sit down and write the content ONCE and then use that exact same content to get in front of more people.

And the way I see it, I’m actually doing my audience a huge service by working in this way. My people are BUSY, so chances are, even if they were super interested in going back and reading my blog post that week, there’s a good chance something else came up. It’s my job to push my content around enough in a way that makes it EASY for them to fit into their life, whether that's scrolling through Instagram at their kid’s soccer game, absorbing an entire blog post in one sitting while they’re eating lunch, or listening to my podcast while they’re out for a morning walk. It’s a win-win for everyone and it takes me FAR less time than constantly feeling like I have to come up with something new and different.

Automate, delegate, and find your rhythm. Amen.

A lot of my Future You clients have noticed that as they start becoming more consistent in their messaging and marketing, a lot of the tasks they do to show up consistently are repetitive. This is actually incredible news because it allows them to shift their thoughts around marketing consistently from, “I feel like I always need to have my hand in this” to “I’m able to create systems and processes that require less time and effort on my part.” Which let me tell you, is an absolute game-changer, allowing you to put your energy elsewhere in your life and business.

Which begs the question… where can you make it easier on yourself? Showing up consistently doesn’t mean that things necessarily need the same amount of time and attention from you each day, so take a look at those tasks you’re finding repetitive and see if there’s a better way to get it done in less time. Perhaps it’s setting up your posts for the week in a scheduling tool like Later or Planoly. Maybe it’s time to hire a virtual assistant to put out your content on various platforms so you can spend more time doing the work that only you can do. Or perhaps it’s time to invest in a brand photoshoot or stock imagery so you’re not constantly wondering WHAT to even post. But to do that it’s essential that you shift your mindset and let go of the stories that it HAS to be hard to show up and get visible.

When showing up consistently, you’ll also want to find a rhythm that works for you. It’s easiest for me to think of my content and marketing strategy in one-week chunks of time. Perhaps for you, that’s two weeks or maybe you like to craft content for the entire month in one sitting. There isn’t necessarily a “right” marketing strategy, but I see too many business owners feeling resistance around marketing because they haven’t found a rhythm that works for them yet and established it as a habit. So develop that marketing plan, stick with it, then automate, delegate and find your rhythm. It’s as simple as that. But let me be clear... the mindset work is what gets you MAKING it simple and STICKING to it.

The bottom line:

Too many business owners flip-flop on their messaging and marketing and it makes it THAT much harder to show up, get more visible, and take the RIGHT actions that will actually grow your business and result in more sales. The best part is, when you actually establish a messaging and marketing plan that feels good to you, it makes it takes so much less time and effort on your part, so you can spend more of your energy of the things that only you can do. And more time in your core genius means more business growth overall!
