My Eras Tour takeaways to help you make more money

If you’ve been around here for a while you likely already know I’m a long-time Swiftie.

In fact, there was a time in my business when I would celebrate each and every business win with a celebratory dance around my living room to “Shake it Off.” I got a few sideward glances from my pup but other than no one was harmed in the making of my less-than-smooth dance moves.

My love for all things Taylor Swift runs so deep that the officiant at my wedding started his speech with the lyrics from “Love Story” so yeah, I’m kinda a fan. 💁🏼‍♀️

That being said, it should come as no surprise that going to the Eras Tour concert last Friday lit me up in the best way and I have SO much to share with you.

In between the sequins, sparkles, shrieking, and PURE JOY that was singing and dancing along to “22” in real-time, my business brain was churning with inspiration that is so incredibly applicable to business – even if you’ve never been much of a T. Swift fan.

That’s why today, I’m sharing my biggest business takeaways from the Eras Tour concert to help you make more money. These shifts will make all the difference in creating massive visibility, longevity, and sold-out results so you can shine like the brilliant business owner that you are.

Keep showing up for your people

It’s wild to think that the first time I saw Taylor Swift live was when she opened for (I think it was Rascal Flatts?) at the New York State Fair when I was in college at Syracuse.

She was already what I would consider a big deal (to me) and I had far more interest in seeing her live than I did the headliner.

That must be about 15 years ago at this point – and now she’s filling stadiums and breaking Ticketmaster.

Heck, I even went to her Reputation Tour at the very same venue in Denver about five years ago and it was nowhere NEAR as packed as it was this time around.

I share this because It just goes to show you what a difference several years can make.

My friends and I were remarking that we don’t even KNOW some of her most recent stuff (yes, even me, a long-time fan!) because she just has SO. MUCH. MUSIC. now.

I think longevity is something that isn’t talked about nearly enough in business – especially online business.

There’s so much chatter about overnight success and how to quantum leap to get faster results and don’t get me wrong, I truly and deeply believe that support DOES move you forward faster to create that – but playing the long game is the flip side to that same coin.

Sometimes sustainable success DOES take time to build, but that isn’t nearly the bad thing it’s made out to be because it’s also the solid foundation that creates those bigger results.

If Taylor had stopped showing up after she opened at that state fair, she likely would have fallen off the radar. This tour wouldn’t have been nearly the spectacle or the energy that I experienced.

The key takeaway here is that if you keep showing up for your audience, your audience will keep showing up for you – and it will often compound exponentially to get even bigger business results.

Take your audience on the journey with you

There was a point in between songs where Taylor stopped to thank fans for their support (probably so she could take a breather between singing and dancing for hours straight – please someone tell me: does she ever get a pee break???) and she talked about re-recording her albums for “Taylor’s Version”.

ICYMI Time Magazine put it well when they said, “But behind it all is an artist who’s been fighting for years now to manage the means, method of production, and distribution of her work… But Swift has power that most don’t, and her very personal fight to reshape the way wealth is distributed from creative work is a potential model for wrestling compensation back from industry forces.”

Talk about a bold move. There’s a lot that I love about this from a creative standpoint, let alone a business one, but that’s a post for another day.

I deeply appreciated how she spoke to this at the concert when she expressed gratitude for the way fans rallied to support her, saying, “You all responded, ‘If it’s important to you, it’s important to us.” Ok, seriously, I just got chills writing that.

This is SUCH an important message when it comes to business mindset and visibility.

So often creative entrepreneurs (myself included 🙋🏼‍♀️) feel the pull to make a change in their business – whether that be because of an intuitive hit, something that feels out of alignment, or a growth opportunity – and the hesitation often comes in the form of how your audience will respond. This often shows up as the mindset block: what will people think?

The key to shifting that is taking your audience on the journey with you. Often the people who love and support you WANT to continue loving and supporting you, but helping them to connect the dots is so key in that transition.

So, fill them in on your reasoning behind it. Share what led you to that decision. Help them understand how this is a good move for BOTH of you.

I’m not saying that always has to be in the exact moment you’re making that shift (give yourself time and space to process) but overall guiding the narrative there is going to be so helpful for both of you.

What I want you to take away from this is that your business will naturally change and evolve with time because you are a human who changes and evolves. The more you let your audience in on that evolution, the better they’ll understand, and the more they’ll rally in support.

Support is EVERYTHING

Ok, you know I love Taylor but I think we all know that productions like this don’t happen with ONLY her.

There was the band, the backup dancers, the videographers, the crew, whoever it was that decided when all our light-up bracelets would turn purple in synchronicity to create the most dazzling effect in the stadium at exactly the right moment. (Can you tell I was impressed by these bracelets?)

Yes, we were all there to see Taylor Swift AND there was the entire TEAM of people that made the show what it was.

I think this is SUCH an important mindset to have when it comes to business growth because most businesses (and business owners) do need support in some way or another.

In some seasons that might look like having me by your side as a mindset and sales coach to help you step into Future You – honing your manifestation skills and cultivating the right mindset to take more of the right actions in your business. In other seasons that might look like having the support of a VA or a copywriter. Heck, sometimes it might mean the support of all three.

But I think it’s harder to actually ask for and get that support when we don’t give ourselves that permission. It can feel bad or wrong to need help with something you could do yourself. Or to invest in a business coach before you have that first client.

What I know to be true from over eight years in online business is that support is an absolute gift (and one you can give yourself at that).

Businesses aren’t built in a bubble – and support can be the thing that helps you stay in your business long term to get the big results (like the raving fans, sold-out programs, and mindset to enjoy all of it).

All that to say, support can be an absolute game-changer and the catalyst for massive growth, but you have to be willing to give yourself permission to step into it.

The bottom line:

While the majority of this post is about my deep love for all things Taylor Swift, I hope that only helped you to understand these overall business concepts even better.

Doing the mindset work to stay in the game long-term (and enjoy the process of growing your business) is some of the most important work you can do as a business owner.

Not only that, but the future of your business depends on it (not to get too dramatic, but I have most definitely found this to be true).

The more you enjoy the process of building your business and take your audience along on that journey with you, the more people will rally around you, trust you, and ultimately love you for it. And people who love you also tend to buy from you… just sayin’.

If thinking about your business in this way feels a little more like “now we got bad blood” than “I see sparks fly” then I’d love to support you on an absolutely free Sincere Sales coaching call.

Together we’ll identify your biggest opportunity to shift for more sales, clients, and money in the bank. Remember, the sooner you shift your mindset to sell in a way that feels good, the sooner you’ll WANT to show up for those sales actions that make all the difference in your bottom line.
